June 2, 1933 Newspaper not noted Old Resident Passes Away At Sumpter {Salome Burdick King} Mrs. Sylvester King was born in York state, July 3, 1849, and passed away Thursday noon, May 25th, at the home of her adopted daughter, Mrs. L.A. Kindschi, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 25 days. When a young girl she moved to Wisconsin with her parents. She was one of ten children, the only surviving members being a brother, Charles Burdick of Baraboo, Wis., and a half-sister Clara, Mrs. George Dash of Seattle, Washington. She joined the M.E. church when a young girl and was always an active member in the church. On March 24, 1869 she was married to Sylvester J. King and they immediately took up residence on the King homestead in the town of Sumpter. This union was blessed with one daughter, Bessie, Mrs. Marvin Wilson, who preceded her in death 36 years. Forty-three years of their married life was spent on the same farm where they were highly esteemed. In February, 1912, they retired to make their home in Baraboo where they resided until Mr. King’s death in 1926. Following his demise she returned to her former home to spend her remaining years with Mrs. Kindschi. Other surviving relatives are a grandson, Ivan Wilson and three great grandchildren of Moose Pass, Alaska, and four grandchildren and one great grandchildren of the town of Sumpter, and several nieces and nephews besides a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 at the house and at 2:00 at the church. Burial at the Kerns Corner cemetery.
