Contributed by Jeanne Jessie MIELKE: OBITUARY OF META IDA MUELLER Meta Ida (MIELKE) MUELLER, 88, Sumpter Township, died at home on Saturday, April 29, 2000. She was born in the La Rue area in Sauk County on December 16, 1911, the daughter of the late Otto and Ida (SCHWANTZ) MIELKE. She graduated from Baraboo High School and Sauk County Normal School in 1931. She taught school at Yanke Street School (rural Prairie du Sac), prior to her marriage to Edwin C. MUELLER, on June 17, 1936. The couple farmed in Sumpter Township all of their married lives. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac and it’s Prayer Chain and a charter member of the Friendly Hours Homemakers Club. She is survived by: a son, Harold MUELLER, Sumpter; a daughter, Mary (Roger) EDGE, Milwaukee; a granddaughter, Rebecca EDGE; a sister, Esther GUNDLACH, Spring Green; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Edwin; two brothers, Fred and Obert Mielke; four sisters, Clara PUTTKAMMER, Florence JESSE, Evelyn YOUNG and Bertha SMITH. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 3 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Prairie du Sac with Pastor Donald WENDT officiating. Burial was in Otter Creek Cemetery. Gnewikow-Hooverson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
